Marcello Barylli

A short bio

A MSc graduate from the Computational Science Lab (CSL) Amsterdam, Marcello is focused on understanding biological life through advanced network models. During his time at CSL, he created a heterogeneous multi-omic network model for the in silico study of colorectal cancer, including targeted interventions. His Bachelor in molecular biology in Vienna served as the basis and inspiration, which complements his computational modelling skills. Previous work at the Centre for Systems Biology and Bioinformatics (CUBE) in Vienna has provided invaluable knowledge in the biological big data techniques that are critical for personalized medicine applications. The joint study of collective intelligence and artificial intelligence, or complexity and AI, is guiding his current investigation of living cells and systems. At the same time, the intersection of biology and technology is key for uncovering how complex biological systems self-organize, how disease states emerge and how they can be overcome.
