A short bio
Adinda Mieras is an epidemiologist and clinical researcher in burncare at the Burn Center, Red Cross Hospital in Beverwijk. Her main interest lies in scar quality; specifically into the possible reasons for the wide variety in scar quality after burns. The main goal of her research is to develop a computational model that can modulate scar formation after burns.
This computational model needs input from all aspects of the patient and the wound:
• Patient characteristics like age, type of burn, skin type and burn depth;
• Characteristics of the wound; like presence of inflammation cells, amount of collagen and amount of fibroblast
• Characteristics of the maturing scar like pain, itch, color, pliability of the skin and height of the scar
This predictive model might help clinicians to make treatment decisions and might give patients a prediction on the scar quality.
